A separated meal from Dr. William Hay.

Strictly scientific proofs in support of a separate meal - a diet developed by American doctor William Hay in the beginning of a century - are not present. Doctor Hay never confirmed, that a meal on his system will cure illnesses, he considered, that his diet can remove obstacles in a way of curing force of the nature. In his opinion, many illnesses, for example an arthritis, the stomach ulcer, an allergy, etc., speak infringement of chemical conditions in an organism which is in turn caused by unlimited consumption of meat and the refined carbohydrates, bad digestion and locks. Doctor Hay considered, that it is impossible to eat simultaneously fibers and carbohydrates because for their digestion various conditions are required: the sour environment for fibers and alkaline for carbohydrates. That Doctor Hay underestimated universality of digestive system of the person, usually capable to consult both with that, and with another. In a stomach there is an acid which promotes digestion of fibers while in thin intestines - alkali for digestion of carbohydrates.

Doctor Hay recommended, that the amount of the products increasing a level of alkali in blood (vegetables, salads, the majority of fruit, milk), in a food allowance in 4 times exceeded weight of the food increasing acidity of gastric juice (all animal protein, the majority of kinds of nuts, all carbohydrates and citrus). Such proportion meets to a ratio of acid and alkaline components in the liquids allocated by an organism. However he did not consider that fact, that the organism has own adjusting system which can resist to excessive receipt and acids, and alkalis.

The diet of Doctor Hay is useful to those who with its help tries to change habits in meal and to refuse from overeat. In many books the diet of Doctor Hay - a good way to grow thin is spoken, that, however loss of weight in this case is connected with reduction of consumption of fats and restriction of meal by one basic kind of food.

Dr. Hay's Diet: the typical day time menu

In opinion of Doctor Hay, the organism cannot simultaneously digest fibers and starch, these two kinds of food should be accepted separately. Carbohydrates are a part some bread, macaroni, rice, other groats, a potato and sugar. Fibers are a meat, a fish, a bird and cheese. Sour fruit - citrus.

Breakfast (alkaline) - 8.00 The Dinner (fibers) - 13.00 The Supper (starch) - 18.00

Fresh fruit; a small jar of natural yoghurt with a pinch wheaten flakes or nuts; grassy tea, fruit juice.

Portion of meat or fish, egg or cheese (something one); salad from fresh crude or boiled vegetables (without a potato); for a dessert an apple or an orange.

Potato in a peel with a butter or bread from not sifted flour with oil; boiled vegetables or salad, a fresh fig with cream or fresh cottage cheese.

Some aspects of a diet of Doctor Hay coincide with modern principles of a healthy meal: it is necessary to eat more fruit and vegetables, completely grain and amyloid products and to limit consumption of fats. Carbohydrates in a diet of Doctor Hay cover about half of total of calories that corresponds to recommendations of modern dieticians, but the share of sugar is a little above. The statement of Doctor Hay of that the human body is not capable to digest simultaneously fibers and starch, as a whole by dieticians and physicians is not divided. However the similar diet can approach people with illnesses of a digestive path. Many doctors believe, that the diet of Doctor Hey helps at duodenitis and a ulcer of a duodenal gut.

RULES OF DOCTOR HAY'S DIET:

1. It is impossible to eat carbohydrates together with fibers and sour fruit.
2. Vegetables, salads and fruit - a basis of a meal.
3. It is necessary to eat fibers, carbohydrates and fats only in small amounts, and from the refined food, such as sausages and sausage, it is necessary to refuse in general.
4. Between receptions of different kinds of food there should be an interval at least hour four.
